Attracting Birds
Birds are a beautiful gift for mankind, which gives shine to our dark winter days and fills our gardens in springs with music and dazzling colors. It is very important that these creations of God should be attracted to the gardens as they bring in rainbows and bring us closer to the nature and an experience for the whole family to share. Birds are colorful and active and you can spend hours watching their feeding, mating and nesting behavior. The types of birds you can attract are often regional, although many birds migrate in the winter or spring months so it is not uncommon to get a few out of town guests.
Tips to attract wild birds are:
One of the most important tips to attract wild bird is to put bird feeder. It is essential that all year-around bird feeders should be given so that the wild birds get in the habit of visiting the yard for e.g. the migratory and humming birds. Small birds eat most frequently during daylight in the winter. Migratory songbirds need large amounts of food for varying amounts of time, often just a day or two,
The backyard should have water source available for wild birds to be attracted. The sound of gently moving water is extremely attractive to birds. Audible water in the garden can be provided by a simple dripping hose or by a sophisticated waterfall,
If the habitat is enhanced or restored that is the best for your location then wild birds will be attracted. Wild birds will be delighted to find tiny insects and spiders in the garden. Never spray insect killer in the yard. The birds need the protein they receive from devouring the bugs and they do not need the insecticide exposure,
Eliminate nuisance birds by cutting back on their favorite foods. Pigeons, for example, are less of a problem if you do not offer cracked corn,
There is also such a thing as keeping out that which will keep the birds away. Neighborhood pets or packs of dogs can scare away birds you want to frequent your back or front yard. Have neighbors keep pets inside, caged or on leashes and report wild predators to the dog warden or game control or to the police. Some birds themselves may not get along well with others. Some types may not be appropriate to attract if you have small children and some you may not want in any case. Know the habits and natures of these winged animals before you shape your environment with them. You have to be comfortable having them around too.
